REC-PM (OAK) playoff brackets
WED 8/25 (2:15AM) -- In the Lower Bracket, we will now finally have the one-and-done championship Grape Sodas vs Air Benders, since last week we had the scheduling conflict with no resolution. In the Upper Bracket, we're down to our Final Three. If we have a Repeat Championship, I would like to get it done 9/5...
TUE 8/10 (12:45AM) -- In the Losers Bracket for the upcoming Sun 8/22 in the Upper Double-Elimination Playoffs, we have #5, #6, and #7. That means #5 gets the privilege of facing the winner of #6 vs #7. Also, it appears that our Championship will be on 8/29, then if we need a Repeat Championship, it could either be on 9/5 or 9/12. We'll cross that bridge when we have to...

In the Losers Bracket, there's a doubleheader for the winners of the first games. It's a mini-final-four. That will leave us with enough teams to eliminate by the time we reach the Final Three teams in which there's the Last Losers Bracket Game and the Championship. Right now it looks like a Repeat Championship, if necessary due to the double-elim format, would occur on 9/12, after skipping the 9/5 Labor Day holiday.

REC-PM (OAK) playoff seedings
WED 8/4 (10:45PM) -- The REC-PM playoffs will be split into a separate double-elimination Upper Bracket for teams that finished above .500 and a single-elimination Lower Bracket for teams that finished below .500. Here's the Upper Bracket...
- The Agents (6-1)
- Area 52 (5-2) -- won head-to-head vs Ice
- Ice Water (5-2) -- lost head-to-head vs Area
- A-Game (4-3) -- won Northwest Conf
- Top Flight (5-2) -- won head-to-head vs AIn
- All In (5-2) -- lost head-to-head vs TopF
- Team Wasted (4-3) -- won head-to-head vs Rdnk
- Redunkulous (4-3) -- lost head-to-head vs Wstd
The tiebreakers were pretty straightforward. Note that in a 4-group format, we would have to just take the winner of each of the four conferences as the top four seeds. This combined with the NFL wildcard tiebreaker system makes the issue of determining tiebreakers much, much easier -- and still maintains integrity. In any case, it's a straight double-elim playoff tournament, so it really doesn't matter where you're seeded. Here are the matchups for this Sun 8/8...

- New Hope REC (3-4) -- won h2h vs Mix, no h2h/common vs CKR, lost s-o-v (4.7) vs CKR, "won" Northwest Conf
- Mix Team (3-4) -- lost h2h vs NHR, cannot finish higher than NHR, "won" Central Conf
- Out Of Order (2-5) -- "won" Southwest Conf
- Air Benders (3-4) -- lost head-to-head vs CKR
- Tone Team REC (2-5) -- no h2h/common vs Grap, won strength-of-victory (12.0) vs Grap
- Grape Sodas (2-5) -- no h2h/common vs Tone, lost strength-of-victory (9.5) vs Tone

We continue the rule of having "winners" from each conference represent the top four seeds. The reason for doing this is just to keep things consistent. Also, in a conference that happened to consist of really strong teams, you might (or might not) have it balanced out this way. Here are the matchups for this Sun 8/8...

REC-PM (OAK) season roadmap
FRI 7/30 (12:30PM) -- Based on their special request posted, it appears that Redunkulous did not want to take the auto-fft for 8/1 (they were supposed to be out of town) and instead provided a timeframe of availability, which in effect re-instated their status for 8/1. See the table below.
TUE 6/22 (9:30PM) -- Sixteen teams, all with tipoff timeframes that are later in the day. The byes for A-Game and New Hope REC were do-able because they both started early on 6/6. The bye requests for Grape Sodas and Redunkulous will not be do-able, since we have a tight schedule heading into the playoffs.
With 16 teams in two conferences of 8, we simply have every team in each conference play the other 7 teams once each for the 7 regular season games heading into the playoffs. That means the Southeast and Southwest conferences will never play the Central or Northwest conferences, and vice-versa.
The Agents will play a doubleheader makeup late in the season as a result of jumping on board late.
However, with 16 teams we can have a massive Upper bracket of 8 teams or more (as it usually turns out, mathematically) that is entirely double-elimination, between all the teams at .500 or above. The remaining 8 or so that were below .500 will play in a Lower bracket that will be single-elimination.

If you have a bye later in the season
that is not a formally requested bye,
due to gym fluctuations and other
unforeseen circumstances, that bye is
not locked down; that week's block
of games can still be shuffled around
as necessary until you formally request
that week to be a bye for your team.
GROUND RULES:
1. Please make sure the number of
red rows (games moved from) equals
the number of green rows (games
moved to).
2. Make sure you have 7 regular
season games listed with your
team name.
3. The last 1 or 2 of 7 regular
season games are usually encoded
as inter-conference or other
special type of matchup.
4. The playoffs are pretty much
nailed down, barring unforeseen
circumstances (i.e., no byes!)
5. Any special late bye requests at
this point will require permission
from other teams to shuffle them
around.
6. Special late bye requests can
*usually* be accommodated if your
team plays a double-header some
other week. But sometimes it
depends on if your opponent is
also stuck with a double-header.
