Ballin's Vu bombs away on Wolfpack

ballin' aaa-premier team photoAUGUST 19, 2007 -- Nic Vu hit 8-of-15 from downtown, scored 30 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to lead the salvo for Ballin' over the Richmond Wolfpack, 70-55. Ballin' finished the season at 14-2, with its only two losses to the formidable Untouchables squad and a debut week loss to RNG in OT... More info

Visual Basic takes the cake in Lower

visualbasic team photo linkAUGUST 12, 2007 -- Tuan Lam scored 29 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, helping Visual Basic defeat a depleted In It To Win It, 64-55 to win the championship in the AAA-Premier Lower bracket... More info

Ballin' forces repeat game

AUGUST 12, 2007 -- Ballin's Mike Reyes scored 20 points in the first half and 12 in the 2nd half to lead Ballin' to a fly-by 75-50 defeat of the Richmond Wolfpack, forcing a repeat championship on 8/19 and regaining the higher-seed homecourt advantage in the process. However, with the requirement of a late game, the repeat championship will be held again at IJRC in Oakland, Wolfpack's homecourt... More info

Ballin' climbs back up brackets

AUGUST 9, 2007 -- See Bird's Eye page. Ballin' eliminated the Untouchables in dramatic fashion last Sun 8/5 to setup a championship against Richmond Wolfpack this Sun 8/12. The winner of the Winners Bracket retains homecourt for this one, so the game will be held at Wolfpacks' homecourt of Oakland. Recap from 8/5... More info

Meanwhile in the AAA-P Lower playoffs, IITWI takes on Visual Basic. Both teams have homecourt on the Peninsula, but due to scheduling issues we must play the game at PHRC in SF.

AUGUST 1, 2007 -- See tipoffs in Bird's Eye link above. Here are recaps from 7/29... More info

Meanwhile, Visual Basic and In It To Win It will square off next weekend 8/12 for the AAA-P Lower bracket championship.

Wolfpack and Untouchables make it through

JULY 25, 2007 -- Tipoffs for 7/29 have been posted on the Bird's Eye page.

JULY 24, 2007 -- Check the Bird's Eye link for the matchups on 7/29 and the Playoff Bracket link as well. The #7 Richmond Wolfpack sent fellow Cinderella #10 R.N.G. to the Losers Bracket, while the Untouchables, who at 10-and-1 is a "wolf" (no pun intended) in sheep's clothing at #5, also sent #1 Ballin' to the dungeon. With 6 teams left in the Losers Bracket and only 2 in the Winners Bracket, that means we whittle down the Losers Bracket as much as possible. #1 Ballin' and #2 Kurruption await the winners of TLB/Colo and Ocho/RNG. Then on 8/5, the loser of the Winners Bracket game has to face the survivor of TLB/Colo/Ball vs Ocho/RNG/Kurr. Then we have gotten through this massive bracket. Meanwhile, due to gym and scheduling constraints, IITWI faces Visual Basic on 8/5 at Sequoia for the Lower championship. Here are recaps from 7/22... More info

Tipoffs for 7/22 posted

JULY 19, 2007 -- Check the Bird's Eye link above. Btw, we're still working hard on the stats, even though it seems like we're not. We're pretty far behind, but remain committed to getting them all done by championships, when there are fewer games to input.

Matchups for 7/22 posted

JULY 17, 2007 (7:00PM) -- Check the Bird's Eye and updated Playoff Bracket links above. So last night, I'm punching in the scores for AAA-P Upper bracket and there's nothing I can say except, "Wow." Game after game, scoresheet after scoresheet, it was like March Madness 2006. In the Winners Bracket, we have #1 vs #5 which sort of holds form (and what a game it will be with Ballin' vs the Untouchables), but then we've got #7 vs #10. We have #2, #3, #4, and #6 now in the Losers Bracket... More info

Recaps from 7/8

JULY 17, 2007 -- Recaps from 7/8 have been posted. Next up: scores from 7/15 later Tuesday, a stats update on where we are on Wednesday, and recaps from 7/15 on Thursday, at least that's the plan... More info

T-shirts being distributed

dreamleague nation teeJULY 17, 2007 -- Over the past 3 weeks, we have been distributing the new t-shirts. Props go to Ky Truong of TheOcho in AAA-P for the design and Starfish, owned by the uncle of AAA-P Frosh Tryouts' Calvin Ma, for giving us the usual friendly prices. Thanks to those of you who submitted your designs. We had to pick something quick and didn't really have time to consider all the other ideas that came in. We're still looking for an Oaktown design for the future, btw... More info

If your team has not received their t-shirts yet, please let us know, just in case. We still have more t-shirts to distribute per gym logistics and where you happen to be this Sunday, but we don't want to keep missing you.

Anyone who wants a t-shirt and was not scheduled to get one due to late or non-Internet payments will have to wait until all of the t-shirts are distributed first, so we can see what we got left over. You will have to reimburse us $5 for the cost of the t-shirt. We don't plan to print more t-shirts of our previous designs until next season, which will start the 3rd week of September, after our Vegas tourneys.

Tipoffs for 7/15 posted

JULY 12, 2007 -- The wild, wild carousel of the AAA-P upper bracket continues. TheOcho gets a bye since they are the highest-seeded Losers Bracket team and there are an odd number of teams there right now. Here are some quickie previews... More info

In the Lower bracket, has Bucketz finally found its groove? They face a solid In It To Win It squad. The Master Drunks and Das Boot take part in what amounts to a coin flip. Visual Basic seems to have hit a stride which Beastly Ballaz hopes to break. And Mad Cow will try to upset the higher-seeded and more evenly balanced frontcourt and backcourt of Bomb Squad.

Matchups for 7/15 posted

JULY 10, 2007 -- Yet another exciting weekend of Upper bracket playoffs coming up. Matchups have been posted on the Bird's Eye page. TheOcho gets a bye because they are the highest seed in the Losers Bracket. All other matchups have been determined by high-seed vs low-seed. After the first round involving diversity of schedule, it really doesn't matter anymore the goal of keeping a diverse schedule now that we are into the swing of it, so we revert back to high-vs-low.

Notes: The Lower bracket is ready to go (Upper bracket still a bit too complicated to post at this point). Also, the Mad Cow vs Bomb Squad game is probably gonna be in Oakland since Bomb Squad's other two teams are there already. The Untouchables vs Colonizers might get moved to San Mateo, but probably not since the Colonizers are coming over from Oakland.

Tipoffs for 7/8 posted

JULY 6, 2007 -- Recaps have been posted... More info

JULY 5, 2007 -- Hope everyone had a great July 4th. I'm still gonna try to do recaps from 7/1, but because I've meant to do this the past two weeks and haven't come through, I can't make any promises. Besides, we're getting a little even further behind on stats, so I might just spend all of Friday on stats and hope that nothing comes up the rest of today for recaps. In the meantime, let's take a look at this week's interesting matchups... More info

Playoff matchups for 7/8 posted

JULY 3, 2007 (6:30PM) -- JULY 3, 2007 -- Click on the STANDINGS link to see the list of seeds. Before we begin, let's review the NFL tiebreaker system... More info

The Lower bracket and its explanation will be dealt with next week. Lower bracket teams, enjoy the week off.

JULY 3, 2007 (5:00PM) -- Made a small error on the seeds. TheOcho needs to be in the top four seeds per NBA playoff seeding rules. That means the matchups involving FT07, TLB, and Boon get juggled around. It's now updated on the Bird's Eye page.

JULY 3, 2007 (4:30PM) -- The matchups (but not tipoffs) for 7/8 have been posted on the Bird's Eye page. All teams below .500 have single-elim status in the Lower bracket, which is mutually exclusive of the Upper bracket. The Lower bracket will take the week off due to lack of gym space on 7/8 and Bomb Squad wanting a bye on 7/8 (Smokey also wanted a bye, but they were eliminated by Mad Cow on 7/1). The Lower bracket will therefore begin play on 7/15, although Mad Cow will have to wait until 7/22 for their next opponent.

I will write an exhaustive article on the 17-team Upper bracket consisting of only .500+ teams, all with double-elim status, later today.

Tipoffs for 7/1 posted, roster slots

JUNE 28, 2007 -- Tipoffs for 7/1 have been posted. The following teams need to pay for a roster slot before tipoff, otherwise it's an automatic forfeit: Das Boot, SloJams, Smokey, and Visual Basic. Check the update Payment Registry link above for details.

Schedule has also been updated with the one Lower and one Upper bracket playoff game already starting this weekend... More info

Matchups for 7/1, one Lower bracket game!

REMINDER FOR PLAYOFF ROSTERS: If your team has only 8 roster slots paid, no more than 8 players and those 8 players ONLY are allowed to show up for your game. If you need an extra roster slot available for the playoffs, you will need to contact the league office.

JUNE 27, 2007 -- Click on Bird's Eye link above for matchups (no tipoffs yet) for 7/1. This is the last week of games with a slate of makeup games, but -- believe it or not -- due to a bye request by Smokey for 7/8, we are going to start the Lower bracket of the playoffs with a single-elim game between Smokey and Mad Cow.

The standings are pretty much set and there are no teams on the brink of single- or double-elim, so we know for a fact that there will be 10 sub-.500 teams in the Lower bracket, all with single-elimination (which means there are 17 teams in the Upper, separate double-elim bracket)... More info

  • Das Boot: 7 spots paid, 8th game on 7/1
  • In It To Win It: 7 spots paid, 8th game coming up

  • Smokey: 6 spots paid, 7th game coming up
  • Untouchables: 6 spots paid, 8th game coming up
  • Visual Basic: 6 spots paid, 7th game coming up
  • ZerOne: 7 spots paid, 8th game coming up
All teams must be paid in full prior to the playoffs, otherwise we will issue you an auto-forfeit before playoffs even start, just as we did with Hyphy in the AAA-Elite.

More to follow, probably posted by Friday, on how I came up with the matchups for 6/24.

2nd big week of interconference matchups

JUNE 20, 2007 -- Matchups for 6/24 have been posted (see Bird's Eye link above), but I'm working on tipoffs all day today. Explanations for the matchups on 6/24 will be posted shortly.

Here are some recaps from 6/20. Btw, remember I promised to do recaps from 6/3 and 6/10? Well, that ain't happenin' anymore, esp. after how long it took me to do 6/20 recaps... More info

9 teams risk auto-forfeit this Sun 6/17

  • Barrio Boys: 7th game, 4 slots paid
  • In It To Win It: 7th game, 6 slots paid
  • Kurruption: 7th game, 6 slots paid

  • San Miguel: 8th game, 6 slots paid
  • T.L Bombers: 7th game, 6 slots paid
  • Untouchables: 7th game, 5 slots paid
Tipoffs for 6/17 posted

JUNE 14, 2007 (11:30AM) -- Interconference matchups have been explained in the season schedule article.

JUNE 14, 2007 (9:30AM) -- Click on the Bird's Eye View link above. Next up: update of Payment Registry page (it's currently only updated thru 6/9) and any necessary auto-forfeit warning notices, the long-overdue quickie recaps from 6/3 and quickies from 6/10 as well.

This week's games are the highly anticipated interconference matchups and I'll write a whole new article for the matchups later today. Until then, just know that Das Boot and Bucketz have a bye due to their previously arranged matchup which was "pre-scheduled" back on 4/22. Also, Ballin' wanted a bye on 6/17 awhile back and therefore their opponent, which happens to be TheOcho due the standings, also has a bye this Sun 6/17 and this matchup of Ocho vs Ball will occur on the makeup date of 7/1. Finally, Smokey gets a bye as the team in last place in the East. You can sort of get a sense of these matchups in the season schedule article, but again I plan to do a whole writeup dedicated to 6/17's matchups in a few hours.

Stacks-o-stats, Payments, T-shirts

JUNE 13, 2007 -- STATS UPDATE: This past weekend's stack of scoresheets is mighty THICK. Reminder: you guys have to have perfectly filled out lineups -- including guys who show up late who must report their number and full name to the table DURING A DEAD BALL SITUATION -- and all players must have already submitted an online waiver, otherwise your team's stats will be skipped and who knows when we'll get to it because of our cakes on a never-ending conveyor belt. I keep seeing such holes in scoresheets maybe once out of every 8. So if your stats aren't up, that could be a very good reason why.

Btw, I just finished hand-compiling the 6/3 stats and the remaining ones from 5/20. Those will get turned from paper into website by our statcrew pretty soon. Also, stats prior to that should be 100% complete (except for teams fitting the above description) by this Friday, according to our last remaining straggling statcrew teenager.

PAYMENT UPDATE: The end of the AAA-P regular season is fast approaching (matchups will be based on standings this weekend and I'm in the process of updating scores and standings) and ALL TEAMS MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY TIPOFF OF YOUR 8TH GAME. This includes if you had a significant amount of games with 9 players and you only paid for 8 (I will audit this next week). Also, remember that you cannot have more players at any playoff game than you have paid for, and they all must have played in at least 3 regular season games. I must rule with an iron fist here -- AAA-E Mix and the ShotCallers already know from this past Sunday that it is not beyond me to call the refs as late as halftime and forfeit the game if guys haven't paid up.

T-SHIRT UPDATE: We currently have a handful of dreamleaguers submitting some ideas for t-shirts. We'll figure that out no later than next week. One thing I might have to do: it appears that costs have gone up and the only way to keep my estimates on par is to order all one design (the t-shirt business is weird). So we'll just go with the new design. Because we want this design to be right, maybe we'll put the handful of suggestions up for vote by the end of the week. That means t-shirts won't be ready until probably the 7/1, 7/8, 7/15, and 7/22 games (they can't all be distributed in one week...it's a drip process).

Ruling: No replay of SloJ vs MDs

JUNE 12, 2007 -- Apologies for the delay, mostly because of the Memorial Day holiday followed by the 6/3 weekend which a busy one filled with various tournaments. The vote by the captains on whether or not to replay the SloJams vs Master Drunks game (article posted on 5/22) was a close one. It was really not all that surprising that we ended up with a virtual deadlock, with 12 teams voting for a replay and 12 teams saying to move on... More info

SQHM games moved to CSMX for 6/10

JUNE 8, 2007 -- Fortune Crew, The Boondocks, In It To Win It, and TheOcho, please check the Bird's Eye View link above for details.

T-shirts: we need new hoop fashion sense

JUNE 7, 2007 -- Click on the Bird's Eye link above, as tipoffs for 6/10 have been posted.

While I've got your attention, let me know if anybody wants to design our new t-shirt coming up. Which means, for those who have been asking, t-shirts won't be available for another 2 weeks (but remember, it's a long season). I'll try to get some of the old designs ordered right away, but of course I need to tally those up first -- which means no more stats entries for several days. Anyways, I digress...

For the first time in years, I took a stroll thru Niketown last week and noticed how not-in-fashion we might be w.r.t. our t-shirts. Things tend to get that way when you turn 36 and have a little 2-year-old to look after. This whole "retro 70's" thing and those colorful (read: ugly) Air Force Ones -- I don't get it. How I long for the days when hoops defined fashion, not the other way around. Ah, the Revolution, the original Haurache, Air Maestros, the Pippens that fit like a sock but weren't called Pippens, when people were too respectful of MJ and didn't wear Jordans unless they were clearly the best player on the court, blah blah blah...I oughtta write a blogpost about this on dreamblogue.

So if there's anybody out there who wants 10 free t-shirts for their whole team (as payment for your assistance and on top of any t-shirts you already get for on-time payments...or if you work yourself to the bone on this new t-shirt design, OK, maybe 20 t-shirts?!!), let me know. The catch: it's gotta have some rendition of our logo and, of course, the words "Dream League". Also, sure would be nice to appease the Oaktown folks this time around, since last time we already made "San Francisco" ones.

Matchups for 6/10 posted, tipoffs soon

JUNE 6, 2007 (4:30PM) -- The interconference matchup at San Miguel will probably have to be the MasterDrunks, now that the standings have been updated. See Bird's Eye for note on this.

JUNE 6, 2007 (8:00AM) -- Click on the Bird's Eye link above for the latest and greatest. Keep in mind if you are in the South or West and don't have a regularly scheduled game for 6/10, you might be one of the teams playing on 6/10 in the interconference that needs to occur this weekend. Right now, it's looking like Barrio Boys at San Miguel, but we can't set that or any other team not already playing on 6/10 in stone yet. That being said, it looks likes our interconference matchups based on standings will shift a little bit, in terms of which teams in which conference play each other, if we pin Barrio and San Miguel together, or any other two teams for that matter.

Don't forget to check the Payment Registry, although it hasn't been updated since 6/2, but at least you know what you owe if you didn't pay anything this past weekend. Meanwhile, we've updated the season schedule... More info

Next on the to-do list for this week: Post scores and quickie recaps from 6/3, and more stats inputting.

The long, arduous path of your stats

JUNE 5, 2007 -- Here are some frequently asked questions about stats. If you've seen this in a reply email to you, don't take it personal. We're just trying to educate everyone on how stats work... More info

And if you're on the list AAA-P players without online waivers submitted, chances are your stats are not going up anytime soon, although we will try to get them done before the season is over.

Half of league in jeopardy of forfeiting 6/3

MAY 31, 2007 (8:00AM) -- Tipoffs for 6/3 have been posted. Use Bird's Eye link above.

MAY 30, 2007 (11:30PM) -- The following teams are in serious jeopardy of forfeiting this weekend. All teams need to have as many slots paid as games about to be played by tipoff EITHER WITH EXACT CHANGE OF $89.00 OR ONLINE this Sun 6/3...
  • Ballin': 4 slots paid, 6th game coming up
  • Barrio Boys: 2 slots paid, 6th game coming up
  • Bomb Squad: 2 slots paid, 6th game on 6/10
  • Das Boot: 5 slots paid, 6th game coming up
  • T.L Bombers: 2 slots paid, 6th game coming up
  • In It To Win It: 2 slots paid, 5th game coming up
  • Kurruption: 4 slots paid, 5th game coming up
  • Richmond Wolfpack: 2 slots paid, 6th game coming up
  • Rising Stars: 5 slots paid, 6th game coming up
  • Rising Sun: 4 slots paid, 5th game coming up
  • San Miguel: 3 slots paid, 6th game coming up
  • SloJams: 2 slots paid, 5th game on 6/10
  • Smokey: 3 slots paid, 5th game coming up
  • Untouchables: 3 4 slots paid, 6th game coming up
  • Visual Basic: 3 slots paid, 5th game coming up
Check the Payment Registry for exact number of slots paid by each team. This list is quite appalling. It represents more than half the teams in the league. Get it together or I'm just not going to schedule certain games this Sunday and call those forfeits. BE MORE RESPONSIBLE ABOUT THIS, OR WE WILL HAVE A RECORD NUMBER OF FORFEITS. MY FINGER IS ON THE TRIGGER ALREADY.

Still need more votes on SloJ vs MDs

MAY 29, 2007 (9:00PM) -- Still need more captains to vote on the issue of whether or not the SloJams vs Master Drunks game, in which a scoreboard issue occurred on 5/6, should be replayed. Even if you are not a captain, your feedback is welcome, although in the end your team can only have one vote... More info

Captains' vote on SloJ vs MDs needed

MAY 22, 2007 (8:00AM) -- Back on 5/6, we had an unfortunate incident occur with our teenage scorekeepers in the game at PHRC between SloJams and the Master Drunks. That day, I had no choice but to staff these two teenagers together due to staffing shortages that day. The bottom line is, the scorekeepers screwed up... More info

AAA-P mid-season outlook

MAY 18, 2007 (2:30PM) -- There's so many teams in AAA-P that it's better just to rely on the stats (OK, if and when they get posted, but I promise you we're working on it...thank God for Memorial Day holiday). So failing that, why don't we take this approach: surprises and not-so-surprises... More info

Tipoffs for 5/20 posted

MAY 17, 2007 (3:00PM) -- The tipoffs for 5/20 were posted this morning. Check the Bird's Eye link above. In the 7-team South, it's In It To Win It's turn to take a bye. Grey Goose wanted a bye, so their matchup with ZerOne gets postponed to the makeup weekend of 6/10 and ZerOne obviously also takes a bye this Sun 5/20. The Colonizers requested a late game and we couldn't find a way to give the T.L Bombers a bye without imposing a doubleheader on some other team later in the season, so the T.L Bombers will just have to somehow finish the Bay To Breakers in time and muster up enough energy. Or have their former brethren on the AAA-6FT Curse of the Golden Showers, who play the game before the T.L Bombers, fill in. Btw, I hope to have the Season Schedule all spelled out in terms of which games got moved where, shortly.

If you want to drop by and help give Commish a little break from manning the booth, that would be greatly appreciated, too. Btw, we're there to promote our Beijing 2008 Olympics tour/tourney... More info

Now's also a good time to remind you that we have a Rasheed Wallace rule, too. The moment any player accrues 4 technical fouls for unsportsmanlike conduct, that player will automatically receive a one-game suspension.

Cut out the player-to-player chatter

MAY 15, 2007 (8:00AM) -- Scores from 5/13 are going up as we speak. We still plan to update the Season Schedules and do a midseason preview now that a few games are under our belt. Stats are going up slowly and 5/13 was finally a week where we had our regular staff and, thus, good scoresheets which will make 5/13 stats go up more smoothly.

While we wait for this content, please be remind that in dreamleague, you are strictly forbidden from instigating any sort of inflammatory chatter with an opposing player. Normally, we call this the "taunting" rule, but our experience tells us that many of you do not really know what "taunting" means. You may think that saying, "Shoot the ball" is trivial to your opponent, but your opponent might not because if he makes the shot, he's going to say something back at you. And yes, we think it's your fault for instigating it in the first place. As written in our RULES & REGULATIONS, taunting is an automatic ejection.

If you are caught as a recipient of instigation and the ref is not aware of the chatter going on, the protocol is to tell the ref about it and if you don't think he's handling it, burn a timeout and have your captain call me on cellphone immediately.

Tipoffs for 5/13 Posted

MAY 10, 2007 (8:00AM) -- See Bird's Eye link above. Here are some scheduling quirks for 5/13...
  • RNG (vs Unt) had originally asked for a game earlier than 1:30pm, but then changed its mind and asked for a tipoff after 2:30pm, which at that point was too late.

  • Other than that, nothing major to report.
Meanwhile, you should see stats dating back to 4/15 start to trickle in in the next few days, as they are mostly in the hands of our teenage online statcrew after a grueling few weeks of setting up the teams with the right player names in the database.

We ask that you continue to provide team names and full names of players, including those who show up late, each week at your game. Make sure everyone on your team has submitted an ONLINE WAIVER at some point, especially if they are new to dreamleague. Any small omission can cause the greatest of delays in getting stats inputted.

Matchups for 5/13 Posted, Tipoffs Soon

MAY 9, 2007 (2:00PM) -- The matchups for 5/13 have been posted. Click on the Bird's Eye View link above. Specific tipoff times will be posted by tomorrow, but you can get a sense of where and what time your team will be playing by looking at the preferences of your team and your opponent's on the Bird's Eye page.

Being proactive about tipoff timeframes

MAY 8, 2007 (8:00AM) -- Perhaps it's not immediately evident, but there's a lot you can do to not only get the tipoff timeframe you want, but be able to better predict what time your game will be this upcoming Sunday, if you can't wait until... More info

Commish is currently working feverishly on: (1) Posting scores from 5/6, (2) Scheduling 5/13, (3) Posting updates on your Season Schedule page, (4) Posting updates on your Season Preview page, (5) Inputting stats not already being handled by our stats manager Mark Chin and his teenage stat crew, and (6) Updating the Payments Registry page. Try not to bug him unless it's painfully urgent!

Stats: You do your part, we'll do ours

MAY 4, 2007 (8:00AM) -- The first few weeks might be the most crucial parts of the stats process. You see, we have to punch in your rosters correctly first. Then we can go robotic and feed scoresheets (assuming they are taken down correctly by the handful of people who will end up touching them) to our kids from the YMCA, etc., to punch in.

So you just simply, absolutely, unequivocally gotta do your part right. Otherwise we might have to hold off on your stats because we can't figure out who you are... More info

Tipoffs for 5/6 Posted

MAY 3, 2007 (3:00PM) -- See Bird's Eye link above. Ballin' and RNG have a bye for 5/6 because Ballin' wanted a bye this weekend. So in essence the Ballin' vs RNG game played on 4/15 was a makeup for this weekend. Other than that, nothing seems out of the ordinary in this week's block of games, except that due to gym issues, we have Bucketz traveling to Oakland to play against Fortune Crew (lucky Fortune Crew) (sorry about that, I confused Bucketz with AAA-6FT SJ Hibachi -- just go with the Bird's Eye and you're fine). Visual Basic is the odd Southern Conference team out this weekend with the bye.

Next week, I'll update the Season Schedule article to show these matchups that have been moved to accommodate bye requests and the like. Other than the above, 5/6 seems like a pretty normal week of matchups. We're setting up the teams with player names from our database and stats should be going up next week. Be sure to spell your names and DON'T FORGET TO WRITE YOUR TEAM NAME on the scoresheets!

Looking ahead to 5/6 and 5/13 (and 6/17)

MAY 2, 2007 (8:00AM) -- THIS AFFECTS RWC TEAMS: There's a huge youth tournament taking up all the Peninsula gyms, but we're trying to squeeze our way into late afternoon at CSM. Of course, the Sequoia gym director didn't tell us this until less than 24 hours ago (and this is the #1 reason why we run things the way we do, i.e., the Thursday notifications of tipoffs).

So count on a later game if we can get CSM (looks good thus far, but we've been hit by wrenches from leftfield before). We might need to displace the AAA-6FT Alameda Ballaz vs San Jose Hibachi game to Oakland due to gym limitations and the fact that Hibachi needs earlier tipoff times.

APRIL 30, 2007 (11:00PM) -- Oops, typo: This Sun 5/6, ...

APRIL 30, 2007 (5:00PM) -- This Sun 5/13, IJRC will be closed due to a big Cinco de Mayo event (the center is often rented out on Saturdays by the Latino community). As of this writing, it looks like we will have to postpone one entire division and it looks like that division will be REC-Oakland.

Unless someone knows of another Oakland gym that can be secured immediately (and we have checked a lot of them) and unless I somehow change my mind that REC-Oak should not be the division to be postponed this weekend, the season will continue as scheduled on your Season Schedule article underneath "Articles from this season" on the right. As usual, you should be doublechecking the tipoff preferences for your team and, for your own sake, that of your opponent, to either get a sense of what time your game might be or recognize that there might be a discrepancy between the two teams. Which brings us to...

MOTHER'S DAY 5/13: The feedback I'm getting from all 9 divisions is that most of you don't want to prolong the season too far -- if you look at the Season Schedule page in the List of Articles on the right (for all divisions except NL+AL-Elite), you'll see that we're into late July or, in some cases, early August.

To avoid stretching too far, we're planning to play on Mother's Day 5/13 (and Father's Day 6/17). SO NOW IS THE TIME TO SUBMIT PREFERENCES FOR THOSE DAYS, OR REQUEST/PRAY FOR A BYE ON 5/13 AND/OR 6/17.

APRIL 25, 2007 (1:00PM) -- Still working on 4/29 tipoffs. First draft of season schedule matchups is up... More info
