Dream League New York - AL | | Seoul Says...The End of the Road
July 13, 2006 – New York, NY (DL) – When the Dream League AL Championship Game was postponed a week from two Thursday’s ago to last Thursday, a collective “CRAP” came out of And None’s camp.
How sweet it is! Pour your wine in it! |
Team And None was so ready to get at it, their eagerness practically burst at the seams.
Prince Thomas foamed at the mouth. Joe Bimmerle kicked his wall 100 times. And Stanley Thomas feared that with an extra week off, his ability to keep turnovers to a minimum might dissipate – he’d been on a streak in the post-season after leading the League in the regular season. An extra week off might butter up his fingers real good. Particularly with the humidity that has been setting in in New York.
The only player who yelped for joy was captain Jimmy Son.
Son – who was away on vacation (he assumed they were going to win the whole shebang by then) during the originally scheduled week, would be able to join the fray and be at the Final. Nothing like your captain being able to join you in the game for all the marbles.
Imagine Magic Johnson, Joe Dumars, Kobe Bryant, or Steve Nash (if he ever got there) going all season long captaining their team and then failing to show up at the very end in the Championship?
The blasphemy!
Perhaps then, the delay and all that came with it, was meant to be. Full Story
