A New Sherriff In Town

NOVEMBER 2, 2005 -- Scrub Club traversed its way back through the Losers Bracket, then edged We Out Here to force a one-game Repeat Championship this Sunday. Scrub actually gets the homecourt advantage due to Dream League's new playoff rule of giving homecourt to the team that has the better record and subsequent tiebreaker if both teams are on equal footing (the homecourt defaults to the team in the Winners Bracket, but we are technically now in a pure single-elimination Losers Bracket). Scrub's traversal through the bracket has garnered a record of 10-4 as compared to We Out Here's 8-4.

First Scrub disposed of Green Hills in San Mateo, 49-43. Jason Ting scored 19 pts in the victory. Alvin Lomotan could not counter Ting, going just 2-for-9 from the field and 0-for-4 from the charity stripe. Lomotan still pulled down 13 boards and blocked 5 shots, however. Tim Villaruz led Green Hills with 11 pts.

Then Scrub went over to Oakland and tore the hearts out of We Out Here, 37-36 in overtime. Ting once again led the way with 18 pts 12 reb, including the only field goal scored in the OT. Kelvin Yip added 16 and Dan Wong came up big with 10 reb. Mike Lai scorched the nets for We Out Here with 19 pts on 6-for-10 from downtown, but the next-highest scorer was Bao Le with only 7 pts.
