D-Unit Sets Highest Point Total of Tournament in Playoff Win

Vic misses the alley, but he did dunk in the tourney. He blamed this on the pass.

December 16, 2006 - Brooklyn, NY (DL) - The D-Unit got the playoff round started with a 79-47 win over the New York Heatkeepers on Saturday evening as they set a point total high for the Gotham City Games.

On an obscene 67% shooting, the D-Unit had four players in double figures led by Mo Hoque's 22 points on 7 of 9 from the floor.

The 5th seeded D-Unit jumped out to a 42-24 lead at half over the 12th seed, and never looked back.

Hoque had 11 points by the half and three other players had at least 7 before finishing the game with 12 (Ali Azizikia), 20 (Varun Bhartiya on 10 of 12 shooting), and 13 (Mo Mirza.)

The Heatkeepers, who were eliminated from the tournament - and were a replacement team for the original Heatkeepers who had to drop out of the tournament after players suffered injuries from a car accident on Friday night, were led by 12 points each from Siniram Tamar and Gurpreet Singh.

The D-Unit recorded 25 assists to their 33 made field goals (led by Mirza's 8) and advanced onto face the 4th seeded New York Fury on Sunday.
