MON 5/10 (3:00PM) -- Welcome to the 2010 Summer season signup page. New for this season...
- The Outlook page (link above) combines the list of competitive and geographical divisions available, the so-called "Rumor Mill" list of teams that are joining, and the calendar for this season, June-Sept.
- All divisions now allow at least two non-Asian "imports". Some higher divisions have no restrictions.
- Any returning teams with more than two non-Asians may petition to be placed into a more appropriate lower division.
- No more Peninsula gym, although San Bruno shall now be a backup to SF. Only SJ/SF/OAK are available.
- Making a special request for a tipoff time outside the norm is now non-refundable.
- HOT!: State championship against PacRim champion! In September at our Vegas tourney!
We will try to continue to update these pages as soon as humanly possible. Please email wylie(at)dreamleague(dot)org if you have specific questions that are not answered on our pages here.
Without further adieu, here's how you signup for this upcoming season...
1. Determine your team's desired start date. All games will be on Sundays. The entire season calendar of 7 regular season games plus quasi-double-elimination playoffs can be found on the "Outlook" page (link above). Teams will start on one of the following dates:
- 6/6... this means you must pay franchise fees no later than 5/30, or
- 6/13... this means you must pay franchise fees no later than 6/6.
The latest a team can start is 6/13. Starting "early" on 6/6 may (or may not) afford you a bye week sometime during the 7-week regular season. Please read the Scheduling FAQ for more info on dates.
IF YOU ARE A FREE AGENT LOOKING TO JOIN A TEAM, PLEASE REGISTER AND EMAIL US AT info(at)dreamleague(dot)org.
2. Pay your team's Franchise Fees. As of Fall 2009, we are no longer charging by the player or roster slot or otherwise partial payment except for the installment plan detailed below. Your team's captain is now assumed to be your franchise owner and must accept full responsibility for payment of all franchise fees, as well as fines (scroll down to Step 4, below). Read the Payment FAQ for more info. We encourage online payments via Google Checkout; to pay franchise fees by cash or check, which will incur a $25 processing fee, please email us.

| SF/OAK Teams ($500)
CHOOSE FROM DROP-DOWN MENU, THEN CLICK ON "BUY NOW": More info jerseys/bball
Requires $25 referee fee (CASH ONLY) per game played, to be paid to ref prior to each tipoff. Forfeit bond will be refunded after the season is over, assuming your team does not forfeit. Purchasing with 8 team jerseys and basketball or being on the Commish's Invite List exempts you from paying forfeit bond.
| Pay in Installments
PLEASE BE AWARE: Paying in installments is not encouraged, but we offer it because some people just cannot plop down the entire franchise fee at once. However, paying in installments adds a lot of work to Dream League operations, and therefore INCURS A SIGNIFICANT PENALTY ON YOUR PART; IT IS NOT CHEAP -- PLEASE SEE THE PAYMENT PLAN DETAILS BELOW.
*** FOR THOSE OF YOU WANTING TO PAY FOR 2010 FALL, STOP USING THIS SITE. GOTO http://www.drmlg.org/bay/leagues/sundays/pay/ TO PAY YOUR INSTALLMENT PLAN ***

(a) Deadlines to pay... Your team's franchise fees are due no later than 7 days prior to your first game. Therefore, we have the following possible payment deadlines:
- 5/30 if you chose to start on 6/6, and
- 6/6 if you chose to start on 6/13.
Remember, teams that choose to start on 6/6 have the luxury of requesting a bye week somewhere in the first 7 weeks. See Calendar page (link above).
(b) Forfeit bond... In addition to franchise fees, each team must supply a refundable forfeit bond of $66 which covers the costs of referees and scorekeepers in the event that your team forfeits. If your team does not forfeit any game throughout the regular season and playoffs, the league will return your team's $66 forfeit bond after your last game is played. A special Commissioner's List of invited captains (note: that's CAPTAIN, not TEAM) who have shown a history of on-time payments and no risk of forfeiting games will be exempt from paying the forfeit bond. Also, if your team purchases 8 jerseys and a team basketball, your team will be exempt from paying the forfeit bond. However, should your exempted team forfeit a game, you will need to pay $66 within 48 hours of the forfeit in order to be reinstated, and you will no longer be on the Commissioner's List. Check the Gameday FAQ for what to do if your team is the victim of an opponent's forfeit.
TEAMS THAT FORFEIT WILL BE EXPELLED IMMEDIATELY AND FRANCHISE FEES WILL NOT BE REFUNDED.
(c) Bring $25 CASH for referee fees to each game. In addition to the franchise fees and forfeit bond, your team must bring $25 CASH to each game to pay for the referees; the league will pay for the scorekeepers. The regular season is now 7 games and playoffs are still double-elimination status for teams that finish above .500; the $25 cash is required before each and every game, regular season and playoffs.
FAILURE TO BRING $25 CASH FOR THE REFS IS A FORFEIT AND CAN RESULT IN NON-REFUNDABLE EXPULSION. 3. Register your team and preferences, and player waivers. Review the Rumor Mill lists, then go to the REGISTRATION page and enter as much details as possible, especially your team's weekly...
(a) Six-hour Sunday tipoff timeframe... It's best if you just read more about the 6-hour tipoff timeframe (click here) on the Scheduling FAQ. This will help us place you in the appropriate division.
(b) Location... Our locations are as follows:
- San Francisco: ISA HS in the Potrero District, and/or Mission Dolores School in the Mission, and (as a backup) Veteran's Memorial in San Bruno.
- Oakland: Ira Jinkins and Tassafaronga Rec Centers near the Coliseum, Bushrod near Berkeley, and Poplar near Emeryville.
- San Jose: James Lick and Piedmont Hills High Schools near the SJ/Milpitas border. We have backups as well.
Please note: due to fluctuating gym constraints and the size of our divisions, you may be placed at any one of the gyms listed for your city. Again, Dream League is different than other leagues, in which where possible, competitiveness outweighs geography.
(c) Online waiver... Each player who steps foot on the court must also submit an up-to-date ONLINE WAIVER, otherwise we reserve the right to remove that player from any of our facilities for any reason at any time, due to that person being an insurance risk to our business. Also, all participants in Dream League including players, spectators, coaches, and anyone else who enters our facilities while we are in operation, must abide by our RULES & REGULATIONS.
PARTICIPANTS NOT ABIDING BY OUR RULES & REGULATIONS WILL BE SUBJECT TO NON-REFUNDABLE EXPLUSION. 4. Review the schedule of fees. The following is a list of fees and is subject to change. Captains or "franchise owners" are expected to bear the financial responsibilities of the entire team; should a team fail to pay in a captain's absence, that captain will be personally liable for all Dream League fees and/or legal remedies incurred by his team.
- Franchise fees: $500 for SF/Oakland, $555 for SJ, to be paid per the stated deadlines and prior to the start of the season for your team. Explained above and in further detail on the Payment FAQ.
- Forfeit bond: $66, to be paid along with the franchise fees prior to the start of the season for your team, but your team may be exempted (see above). May be imposed at anytime by the league office if a forfeit bond has not already been paid or has previously been exempted. Covers one game's referee ($25 x 2) and scorekeeper ($8 x 2) costs. Refundable at the end of a team's season to that team if that team did not forfeit any games. Explained above and in further detail on the Payment FAQ.
- Referee fees: $25 per team per game, payable directly to the referees prior to tipoff of each game, at each game, as already explained above in the franchise fees; failure to pay will result in non-refundable team explusion.
Note: If you are a low-maintenance team, chances are you will not be subjected to any of the following:
- Technical fouls: $5 per unsportsmanlike-related technical foul incurred, payable by the individual to the scorekeeper at the following week's game; failure to pay will result in the individual's suspension from the playing in further games. Please refer to the Payment FAQ (link above) for more info on fines for technical fouls.
- Participant suspensions: $25 per participant suspended, any length, in situations where we need to suspend a player for gross misconduct (fighting, threatening bodily harm, et. al.). Suspension fines are payable online to the league within 48 hours; failure to pay will result in non-refundable team explusion. If a participant, which can be a player, coach, or spectator representing your team, is suspended by the league for any amount of games of other time period, your team will incur a $25 fine; teams are responsible for the participants that are involved with the team. Such suspensions cannot be replaced with another player/participant and no franchise fees will be refunded.
- Special tipoff request: $5 per request, which modifies your team's 6-hour season tipoff timeframe, payable online to the league on the Monday or Tuesday before the following Sunday's game in question, as posted on the MAKE SPECIAL REQUEST page for each season. There are no refunds for special requests, therefore it is highly recommended that you do your homework before making the special request (e.g., find out who your opponent is, find out what their timeframe is). Requests cannot be made without prior payment no later than 11:59pm of the Tuesday preceding. Refer to the Scheduling FAQ (link above) for more details.
- Other scheduling changes: $25 per request, payable online. Any other non-tipoff-related special requests, such as bye requests or structural changes to the season schedule. Requests cannot be made without prior payment no later than 11:59pm of the Tuesday preceding.
- Protests and investigations: $25 per request or guilty verdict, payable online. If your team feels that another team is not playing by the rules, you must pay $25 to launch an investigation. If the investigation results in a verdict in your favor, then your $25 will be refunded and the team in violation of the rules will then be ordered to pay a $25 fine. Failure to pay any fines by within 48 hours of the verdict will result in non-refundable team expulsion.
- Other violations of league policy: $25 per incident. If the league office launches an internal investigation, without an initiation of a protest from another team, of a matter that is relevant to competitive fairness and your team is found in violation of our rules, your team will be fined $25, payable online and within 48 hours of judgment; failure to pay will result in non-refundable explusion. Such matters typically include the use or recruitment of illegal players. Please utilize the "Division" page (link above) for our division-by-division roster rules.
- Other fees: typically $25 per incident. Any other action required by the league office, such as processing of installment plans, paying by cash or check instead of online, or similar/necessary will incur a fee, typically $25, however it is a case-by-case scenario and depends on each situation. In short, do not expect the league office to go above and beyond the call of duty without fair compensation for the extra time needed to complete said task. The league office is extremely busy each week scheduling the games, and hiring the gym time, referees, scorekeepers, and other related logistics.
FAILURE TO PAY FINES WILL NOT ONLY RESULT IN EXPLUSION, BUT ALSO LEGAL ACTION FROM OUR LAW FIRM.
5. Follow the Season Homepage carefully. The league's bulletin board is located on the Season Homepage, which is also linked in the left-hand navigation panel of every page on this website. There, you will find your team's weekly schedule and any other issues pertaining to the season.
