MON 4/19 (1:45PM) -- Here are my picks for all-tourney teams...
ASIAN-ELITE pg - Taraz Lee, Dream League Bay Area sg - TA, Bout That Action sf - EK, Wooree Litech pf - Sunny Margate, Dream League Bay Area (MVP) c - Dae Han, Taiwan Center
NOTES: I tried to pick guys from teams that made the semifinal games unless someone just blew up in all three games for any given team getting bounced in the quarterfinals. But I couldn't bring myself to pick a standout from PacRim, which was led by center Joe Edwards in the quarterfinals, but then disappeared in the semis. Inside Moves played well in Pool Play, but then had a terrible game in as they were eliminated by PacRim. The best remaining impact player who was consistent throughout was Taiwan Center's Dae Han, who fit in nicely at center amongst the top 5.
6FT-OPEN g - Eristheo Raif, Freestyle g - John William, Lifted (MVP) f - Larry Kerchner, Delano Killa Beez f - Dennis Jimenez, Delano Killa Beez f - JR Stephens, Def Squad
NOTES: Again, picking guys from the Final Four. Since this is the 6FT division, there wasn't a lot of strong post play, so we'll just list these guys as guards or forwards. Dennis Jimenez filled up the statsheet throughout, while Larry Kerchner was the standout in the championship, which was lost to the clear-cut MVP, John William.
INT/REC Johnson Cheung, Riverside PK (MVP) Nam Nguyen, Riverside PK Jayson Requejo, PacRim IntRec Brian Ceberio, Pineapples Danny Tran, USCSD
NOTES: Actually, it was hard to pick these since I didn't see a lot of the games, so I went with one guy from each of the four teams, plus an extra from the champion, Riverside PK. PacRim had multiple guys step up in each of the 3 games they played, but Requejo's name was mentioned the most often/consistently. |
