2009`Fall/Winter AAA (NYC)

SEE LEBRON J-AAA-MES SUNDAY (NO, NOT @ A DL GAME DUMMY); OH, AND REGISTER FOR DL-FANTASY

Triple A - So while you log on and register for the DL Fantasy League (what more do you need to kill time at work???) that we are planning going live with (as in stats start counting) some time real soon (instructions below - and remember to add our FB page as well as adding us on Twitter), we got some delicious news courtesy of DJ – that’s Darren Jiang, NYC’s own who lives and works at that Swoosh symbol company out in Beaverton, OR, to you young un’s who don’t know – that someone you may have heard of – his name is LeBron James or something like it – is going to be here in the 212 this coming Sunday 9.20.09 as part of a special stop on his world-wide MORE THAN A GAME TOUR.

King James will be there with his high school starting 5, which is what this tour is all about and this event is wide open to anyone and everyone and so we are calling on DL Nation to come on out this Sunday from 10-4 down near the South Street Seaport to be a part of the love, peace, and basketball LBJ and gang are spreading this summer/early fall.

We were in Shanghai a couple weeks back when LBJ was there as part of his 3-city stop in Red China and the scene was intense. Nike is dropping just 123 pairs of his limited edition city-specific LBJ Air Max VII’s and, amazingly, we got our hands on a pair of his Shanghai ones. Here in NYC, good luck Chuck in getting a pair of these. They go on sell on 9.20.09 at the House of Hoops and Niketown. And the MORE THAN A GAME theme? It refers to a documentary film made about the MVP and his “Fab 5” St. Vincent-St. Mary’s team in Akron, Ohio during his senior year that Lionsgate opens nationwide in theaters on 10.02.09. Check the trailer: HERE.

Here are more specific details about Sunday’s extravaganza:

Place: Pier 36 b/w Montgomery and South Street -- MAP.
Time: 10AM-4PM
Cost: FREE, BUT...you must register prior to the event with the Basketball Network on their Facebook page @ apps.facebook.com/ballersnetwork. By registering prior to the event, you will skip the inevitable long line of people registering on-site who didn't do it prior to, and by signing up, you'll be able to participate in skill challenges such as the Hot Shot Challenge, 3-Pt Shootout, and 1-on-1 King of the Court. The winner of the Hot Shot Challenge will ultimate go up against the King himself at the end! Bring your under 21 kid brothers and sisters for fun "Green Screen" photo ops and everyone is eligible for prize giveaways, free Nike gear, and free, free, free food and drink all day long. (We're talking burgers, dogs - real food!)

*Special appearances by Kerry Hilson and the Jabbawockeez to boot!

--------------------------------------

You might have heard from someone that we are going digital and utilizing Facebook and Twitter this season (so add those to your account!) And, of course, as the other pages have spoke of, we are trying out a DL Fantasy Season for all!

While the season has gotten under way with some games already last week, no worries. You can join still starting now. Read the following rules carefully and spread the good word! We want to try to kick this off as soon as we can! We need everyone to sign up this week so we can get it going.

Ever wanted to build your own fantasy team full of Dream Leaguers? Well Fantasy Basketball is now here at Dream League. Play against your fellow Dream League friends and see who builds the best team. All interested parties must provide us their emails (please email both brian@dreamleague.org and garry.yeung@gmail.com together so that we can send out the invite for you to join the league. We will be rolling this out across all three leagues this season, so when you email us, please specify which Fantasy League you want to join (NL, AL, AAA). There will be a grand prize (TBD) for the winner of each Fantasy League at the end of the season.

We're following LBJ from the Far East to the East Coast.

Here are the rules:

Team Selection

Your fantasy team must be made up of 7 players containing:

3 x guards (GUA)
1 x center (CEN)
3 x forwards (FWD)

You can make unlimited drop/add players up until the date before the first game. However you will be limited to 20 drop/adds over the course of the season, and this continues during the playoffs, so use them wisely!!!

You must drop/add a player the day before the game (by 6:00PM EST) for that player to score any points in that game. Unfortunately, the system we are currently using does not support game day changes, so log on the day before to set your team!!!

All current players are rated as 3 stars. However over the course of the season, this rating will change based on how well the player is playing during the season. We have set an initial cap at 25 Stars for your over team, to prevent people from having a team of all 5 star players. Once your team is over the cap you will be required to drop and add a player to make sure that your team is not over the cap limit.

How do I score points?

A Guard will score:

1 point for every point.
3 points for every assist.

A Center will score:

1 point for every point.
2 point for every assist.

A Forward will score:

1 point for every point.
1 point for every assist.

All Players will score:

5 points for every appearance.
-1 point for every foul.
10 points for every player of the match*.
1 point for every rebound.
2 points for every steal.
3 points for every 3 point field goal.
3 points for every block.
-2 points for every missed free throw.
-2 points for every turnover.

* This will be determined by the WRITER who will be writing up the game!
